Ecosys is a trademark of Kyocera Mita. ECOSYS stands for "eco" from "ecology" and "economy" and "sys" from "system."

In developing printers, the three factors Kyocera focuses on are ecology, economy, and system compatibility. The ECOSYS concept emerged through efforts to offer concrete, integrated printing solutions incorporating all three factors. Kyocera Mita's advanced technology provides the means to turn concepts into practical solutions. Its innovative cartridge-free system makes this possible through Kyocera Mita's amorphous silicon drum, coupled with its advanced network printing solutions and advanced network support.

 Environmentally Friendly Printers

In office communication, the ECOSYS printer is setting new standards. It protects the environment by reducing waste using recyclable materials and drastically reducing emissions. For example, the ECOSYS FS-1700, launched on the market in February 2002, has been the first page printer in the world to receive the Blue Angel Certification, a German Eco-Label. This revolutionary technology resulted from Kyocera's company goal to permanently solve the conflict between ecology and economy.

 Cartridge-Free Technology

Kyocera's advanced ceramics provide the "cartridge-free" technology for its revolutionary ECOSYS laser printers. These printers use a print drum made from amorphous silicon with an extremely durable material coating to provide up to hundreds of thousands of pages of high-quality printed materials, both black and white and color. This contrasts sharply with conventional laser printers, which require users to buy a whole new print cartridge every time the toner runs out. Consequently, people who use Kyocera's ECOSYS printers never send disposable cartridges into landfills -- and they save money as they help the environment.

 Lowest Total Cost of Ownership

By eliminating the disposable cartridge, Kyocera Mita ECOSYS printers provide the lowest "total cost of ownership" in their class. "Total cost of ownership" (TCO) and "cost per print" (CPP) are very important factors to consider when purchasing new equipment. The price of a printer is often irrelevant if the TCO and CPP are very high. When compared to competitive printer models, Kyocera Mita ECOSYS printers end up paying for themselves in many cases and actually earn income for users over the lifespan of the equipment.

This is also true of the copy systems developed by Kyocera Mita that also incorporate much of the same technology. For this reason, the entire Kyocera Mita product line-up offers a very competitive total cost of ownership, very often beating the competition hands-down.
